Meta is looking for a macOS Client Platform Engineer who is passionate about solving complex business challenges, to design and deploy scalable, secure, and productive services to our growing Mac fleet. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting large scale macOS infrastructure, building tooling and automation for provisioning, monitoring, and managing the environment. This position will be part of the Enterprise Engineering CPE (Client Platform Engineering) team that manages, implements and supports macOS solutions, enabling the company to grow rapidly and connect the world.


MacOS Client Platform Engineer Responsibilities:

  • The Mac OS Engineer will act at the Tier-3 level and is responsible for system maintenance, tracking, and troubleshooting Mac devices and adding automation to administer the macOS MDM environment for Meta
  • Responsible for designing, deploying, and monitoring macOS services across tens of thousands of devices
  • Monitor and control Enterprise Mac devices and provide metrics that illuminate efficiencies or opportunities for growth
  • Provide guidance and ensure that all Mac devices are in compliance with Meta policies and procedures
  • Evaluate hardware and software solutions and participate in projects within the team



Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4+ years experience with macOS platform engineering
  • 4+ years experience with configuration management tools
  • Experience using source control, such as git or mercurial
  • Presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience working with or in support of diverse communities



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fundamental understanding of macOS internals, such as packaging, preference domains, launched, and unified logging
  • Deep knowledge of Apple MDM architecture, design, and implementation
  • Proficiency with open source management tools such as Chef, Munki, and MicroMDM
  • Aptitude with scripting and automation in Bash, Python, Ruby, or Golang
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative and distributed team environment
  • Comfort leading large, cross-functional projects affecting multiple organizations
  • Active in the greater macOS IT Admin community, and enthusiasm for contributing to open source projects
